Metiri Group announces its continuing collaboration between APPL, a Metiri Group subsidiary, and the Fresno State University Chemistry Program.
Beginning with the start of classes on August 22, APPL will work with the students and the Fresno Chaffee Zoo Life Support Team to monitor the performance of the filter systems at the aquatic features for the new Kingdom's of Asia Exhibit. After a three-week orientation, the students will begin working across multiple departments of the laboratory. These analyses will monitor the quality of the freshwater used in the exhibits in anticipation of an opening of the exhibits later this fall or early next spring.
“For twelve years, the Fresno State Department of Chemistry and Agriculture and Priority Pollutants Laboratories have collaborated in providing students with authentic industry experience working with standard procedures in an accredited laboratory. This unique course serves an important role in helping students make the difficult transition from academic laboratories to the chemical industry,” said Dr. Eric Person, Professor at Fresno State Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
“Access to state-of-the-art equipment and standard operating procedures at Agriculture and Priority Pollutants Laboratories LLC (APPL), along with the support and mentoring of their staff, allows our instrumental analysis students to provide meaningful testing services to community partners like the Fresno Chaffee Zoo life support team.”
Dr. Person also added, “This collaboration is a unique and valuable connection for both our students and our department as a whole to the community we serve and where our students find employment.”
